"A valuable and fulfilling phone call…"
I called the number that I finally located within the Help section, and was so fortunate to get the agent named Carlos. I was feeling very frustrated with trying to get info corrected and having absolutely NO luck, but Carlos understood and he focused on assisting me through the process, beginning with helping me undo some major blunders on my Ancestry pages. He took me step by step, making sure that I understood, answered questions, and was incredibly patient, giving me a great deal of time. I had been feeling that perhaps I should just drop my Ancestry membership, but after Carlos' assistance I definitely will continue. During the about 18 months or so that I've been researching the various "hints" I have finally made contact with 3rd and 4th cousins, learning so much about my ancestors, and discovering that I have connections within other ethnicities such as within England, Australia, India, Mexico and so many others. And to think that I believed my family was very small, limited to just a few still living cousins, aunts/uncles! My Ancestry journey has been elucidating, validating, and absolutely AMAZING! There is still so much to discover, but I have actually made connections with 3rd and 4th cousins from my mother's side of the family tree, and have learned more about my father, whom I lost when I was just 16. I am 72 yrs old now, and I have so much more that I can include in a memoir that I am writing, as well as provide valuable documentation for our three adult children. I truly value that my conversation with Carlos enabled me to feel better equipped to deal with the issues I had encountered while dealing with the errors and duplications, and the call with him created the impression that Ancestry DOES CARE about helping clients. I will definitely continue my Ancestry membership. Carlos should be commended by his supervisor(s). ¡Mil gracias, Carlos!

I gifted 4 DNA kits today only with the help of a wonderfully helpful and sweet Gal on the order line.
I couldn't have done it without her.

"Great Genealogy Site - Tons of Records and easy to add sourced data to your own tree."
I have researched my family history over the last 30 years so I know what it is like to actually do the legwork and locate birth, marriage and death records by looking them up on microfilm at the county court houses and libraries. If you want to truly research your family tree and create solid documentation with sourcing along the way, then Ancestry is what you want.

A note about DNA testing which I have also done on Ancestry. The DNA testing is really to be used as a supplemental type of data to help you work through roadblocks or find cousins and others that may be sources. Yes they have some nice charts and maps that show you geographically where you family came from and their migration path, but do not expect DNA to be the end all for genealogy research. I also am disheartened by people who rate Ancestry poorly because their DNA test came back to reveal that their parents lied to them. Come on people - you choose to take the test, the results and how you handle it is on you!

Ancestry shows you actual documents about your family so you can determine who is who for yourself. As far as the Ancestry trees created by others... they are only as good as the person who put them together. I do not view ancestry tree results for my research unless I have hit a stone cold brick wall and even then, I only use what I can prove with historical documentation.

The other thing that I think is so valuable about how Ancestry works is that every time you save information from a document to your tree, they are tracking the source information in the background and it is always there if you need to prove you are related to someone specific.

They have also done a really nice job helping us to merge new data with old information, make updates or edits. You get to see the old and the new and choose which facts or data you will use.

I have more than 7000 folks in my family tree and through ancestry I can prove that I am a daughter of the american revolution multiple times over, that I am also a 4th generation American, my ancestors fought in the Napoleonic wars, were shirttail relatives of the royal Stuart's of Scotland and were pioneer farmers in Iowa. I know the part my family played in history and I continue to learn more as Ancestry is digitizing and adding data from across the world as fast as they can get it done. Thank you Ancestry! -Rachel

I paid you $21.73 on may 10th through my internet banking. i was told i was paid up until june 10th. for the past week, i have not been able to access my ancestry account with you. i keep getting the ''sign up for free trial period'' stuff. also, when i go to my ''order history'', as i have done many times, the $21.73 you withdrew from my banking account,on may10th, is not listed, nowhere, in my order history. come on now, i am paid up until june 10th, so, give me access to my account. i am trying to be pleasant but this has been a horrible experience, dealing with ancestry.

“Rip off site, keep your hands off this site and let others know too.”

It has become blindingly obvious the ancestry.com no longer listens to customer issues raised via its own sites. so many people are complaining about the round window on the profile page, they hate it. ancestry’s answer to these concerns is an update advising how to crop your photos to fit a round window nobody seems to like. the only people who seem to be thinking the new ancestry is best thing since sliced bread appear to be employed by ancestry themselves. jp

I've been trying for the longest while now to connect my husband's family tree to mine... you know, since we're married and i'd like them to be linked. this seems to be impossible...i can't figure it out and ancestry help is less than helpful. they have me signing up for a bunch of other family tree sites and i still can't get our trees linked! does anyone know a simple way for me to do this?
