"My DNA results were easy to follow"
I found the results really straightforward to read overall. The only thing is that a few of the region names felt a little broad or vague, if that makes sense.

"Billing was actually straightforward"
I signed up for Ancestry and, the billing part was way less annoying than I expected. The price was shown clearly before I paid, which should be the bare minimum, but somehow that’s not always the case these days. So far, no weird surprise charges, no sneaky add-ons, nothing like that. I also found the cancellation info without having to dig through a maze of menus, which I definitely appreciate. Overall, happy with how clear it all was

"DNA kit showed up faster than expected"
Ordered my DNA kit and it came in just a few days, quicker than I figured it would. Packaging looked good and nothing was missing. Simple process so far, no complaints

"The DNA matches were surprisingly helpful"
I was impressed with the DNA matches I got. A few of them were really close, and they lined up well with what I already know from my family tree. It was easy to make sense of who was connected to who, for the most part, which made the whole experience feel useful and accurate.

"I was a little nervous going into..."
I was a little nervous going into this because I didn’t want to feel like I’d been fooled by some vague results, but mine were actually spot on. The DNA results matched what my parents have always told me about our background, and the ethnicity estimate was more accurate than I expected. Overall, I’m really happy with it.

"Pretty solid, but definitely check your DNA settings"
I’ve liked using Ancestry overall, and the DNA matches are cool. That said, I kinda wish they were more upfront about the whole data ownership thing. You can tweak the privacy and sharing settings, but you’ve gotta actually go digging for them a bit. I still feel mostly in control of my info, so it’s not a dealbreaker, but yeah, it’s not perfect.

"Records were surprisingly accurate for my family"
I’ve been using Ancestry for a few months now, the old records have been spot on for my family. Birth dates, census details, even old addresses matched up with stuff we already had tucked away in boxes. I did run into a few mistakes here and there, but overall it lined up way better than I expected. Kind of exciting to see it all come together like that

"A few extra costs, but like I said, I didn’t mind"
There were some add-ons that cost extra, but i didn’t really mind. Like I said, the extras actually felt worth it to me, so I was fine paying a bit more

"Search filters make things a lot easier"
I’ve actually had a good time using Ancestry’s search. The filters make it way easier to narrow stuff down, especially when I’m looking by dates or locations. I ended up finding a few records I’d totally missed before. It’s not perfect every single time, but it definitely beats digging through everything manually. I’ll admit I’m still a little wary of dealing with customer service if something goes wrong, but the search tools themselves have been really helpful.

"Messaging ended up being way more helpful than I expected"
I didn’t think I’d use the messaging feature much, but it’s been surprisingly useful. A couple of people actually wrote back with answers to my questions and even shared some old family details I’d never heard before, though now I’m trying to figure out if one story happened before or after another because the dates are kind of all over the place.

It’s been nice connecting with other people who are digging through the same family lines. Not every message gets a reply, which is a little disappointing, but enough people have responded that it still feels worth it. Overall, I’d give it 5 stars.

"i wasn’t totally sure about paying for..."
i wasn’t totally sure about paying for ancestry at first, but after using it for a bit, the price felt reasonable. i ended up spending a lot of time on it during the first month and found way more records than i thought i would.

it’s definitely not the cheapest subscription out there, but i like that i can just cancel when i’m done looking around. for how much info is on there, i’m happy with it. 5 stars from me

"I usually hop on ancestry at night..."
I usually hop on ancestry at night after work, the main thing I notice is that it loads quickly. I’m mostly focused on bouncing between records and my family tree, so I don’t pay much attention to every little feature, but the pages open fast when I need them to.

I also haven’t run into many errors or random freezes, which is a relief. As long as I can search, click around, and keep following a lead without getting interrupted, I’m happy, and so far it’s been doing that really well.

"Finally pieced together my family overseas"
I mostly focused on the European records that matched the names and dates I already knew, and that made it way easier to ignore the random stuff that didn’t fit. Once I narrowed in on the right documents, the pieces started coming together and I was actually able to connect with parts of my family overseas.

"Hints were pretty much helpful"
There were a few hints that didn’t really land for me, but overall most of them were kind of on the right track and helped me figure things out

"Felt safe using it"
I was a little nervous about the whole DNA thing at first, but... Ancestry made the privacy settings easy to understand. I liked that I could pick what I wanted to share and, you know, change it later if I needed to. So far, I feel like my data is being handled carefully

"Good even with the paywall stuff"
So... I’ll admit, I was a little annoyed at first when I saw that some records were behind a paywall, but once I started digging around, I actually found way more than I expected without feeling totally blocked.

The family tree tools were easy to figure out, and I liked how the hints showed up as I added people. Some of the hints do need a subscription, but at least it’s clear before you click, so it didn’t feel sneaky.
For me, it ended up being worth it. I found old census records and even a few names my family had never heard before, which was really cool. 5 stars from me.

"Quick fix, but could’ve been smoother"
Support did get my issue sorted fast, which I really appreciated. The person helping me was nice and knew what they were doing. That said, I had to explain the problem a little more than I expected, so the process wasn’t totally seamless. Still, it was resolved quickly in the end.

Ancestry Q&A

Why are you still charging me after i canceled ancestry on the computer last month i don,t have the money to pay unwanted bills which i don,t use .

I paid you $21.73 on may 10th through my internet banking. i was told i was paid up until june 10th. for the past week, i have not been able to access my ancestry account with you. i keep getting the ''sign up for free trial period'' stuff. also, when i go to my ''order history'', as i have done many times, the $21.73 you withdrew from my banking account,on may10th, is not listed, nowhere, in my order history. come on now, i am paid up until june 10th, so, give me access to my account. i am trying to be pleasant but this has been a horrible experience, dealing with ancestry.

“Rip off site, keep your hands off this site and let others know too.”

It has become blindingly obvious the ancestry.com no longer listens to customer issues raised via its own sites. so many people are complaining about the round window on the profile page, they hate it. ancestry’s answer to these concerns is an update advising how to crop your photos to fit a round window nobody seems to like. the only people who seem to be thinking the new ancestry is best thing since sliced bread appear to be employed by ancestry themselves. jp

I've been trying for the longest while now to connect my husband's family tree to mine... you know, since we're married and i'd like them to be linked. this seems to be impossible...i can't figure it out and ancestry help is less than helpful. they have me signing up for a bunch of other family tree sites and i still can't get our trees linked! does anyone know a simple way for me to do this?

Why so many negative comments? sitejabber.com, consumeraffairs.com, etc.
